Why do I need a Wedding Planner?

With today’s hectic lifestyle, many bridal couples and their families do not have the time for the detailed planning and work a beautiful wedding requires. A certified wedding planner, working with you, can handle the details, allowing you the freedom to do what you want to do. Unique Events will work on your’s and your family’s behalf within the desired budget and to potentially avoid costly mistakes that translates into greater planning time and money.

What will a Wedding Planner do for me?

Aside from sharing his/her expertise and relevant contacts, a certified wedding planner will play the following roles for you:

How far in advance of my wedding should I hire you?

Much of this depends on when you intend to have your wedding and the size and scope of it. For weddings ranging anywhere from 2-20 we typically don’t need much lead time. It is the larger weddings where there are many more details to consider where we’d suggest booking at the very least 6 mos in advance.

Running from April through the end of November are typically our busiest times of the year and that goes for our wedding vendors as well.

Once you give us a specific date in mind can we then tell you know of our availability.

We operate on a first come first serve basis which means once we receive a signed agreement and deposit from you will your wedding be official on our calendar.

What is your most requested wedding package?

Our most used packages is what we call the Month of/Day of Package. This is a part time wedding planner, but with our planning tools it feels like you have a full time planner. This includes scheduling, walk-throughs and coordination for your wedding weekend.

Do you offer planning meetings?

We definitely offer extra planning meetings. All of our packages come with a set number of meetings included, but additional meetings can be added on. We also have helped just with the planning part, but not the wedding. We are very flexible.

Can you assist me in my elopement?

The short answer is, ‘absolutely.’ Obviously, we prefer at least 1-2 weeks advance notice in order to help get all the necessary services set up for you speaking primarily of lining up an officiant. In addition to that we will need to make sure all required documentation is in order for a valid marriage license here in the state of Georgia. Much of what we can do for you with minimal notice depends on how much you want. Some services will require a little more planning than others.

Aside from scheduling an officiant to preside over your wedding, we can also make recommendations on a venue(s) that would require little to no cost. In most cases we’d likely try to find an appropriate outdoor setting such as a park, waterfall, beside a mountain creek/river or other attractive natural setting.

How far are you able to travel for my wedding?

All of our packages include 60 miles round trip from our office in Blairsville, GA. There is a small travel fee if the wedding is located outside of this radius.

Do you have decorations on hand?

We do not supply decorations. We always suggest renting decorations from a great local company. If there are certain things you are in need and would like assistance procuring those, we are able to assist for a nominal fee.

Do you have staff that could assist with other needs?

We have a wonderful team that can assist you with anything from an extra pair of hands, to bartenders, to clean up crews, we have it all.

No one in my wedding party/family knows much about decorating for a wedding. Is this a service you provide?

Yes, we can most certainly assist you in setting up decorations for your wedding. We have done this for other clients of ours’ in the past.

In order for us to provide you with a quote for this service we will need to better understand how much work this will entail as this may require additional staffing resources.

Can we include a pet(s) in our wedding?

Yes, you may include your pet(s) in your wedding. If you intend to reserve your own wedding venue, we’d first suggest you check with them in order to make sure it has their approval and is noted in any agreement you may enter into with them. In order to best assist you with this, we’d prefer to know well in advance so we can make the proper arrangements and we’d also suggest your making it known to your guests of your intentions to include your pet(s) in your ceremony.


Local/North Georgia

Do I need to use a local wedding vendor(s)?

We always recommend a local vendor. It is always nice to have someone who knows the venue, has worked their before and that is also in town in case of an emergency. It is always a great way to support local and small town business. Because of the increasing popularity to have a wedding in the north Georgia mountains, our wedding vendors continually stay busy and are dialed in to all the latest trends and styles. Rest assured, you’ll receive warm, friendly and trusted service from our local wedding vendors.

What are the requirements for a Georgia marriage license?

Here’s what you need to know and what documents to bring with you when you apply for a Georgia marriage license.

  • Residency: You do not have to be a resident of Georgia. However, if not a resident, you must apply in the county where the marriage is to be performed.
  • Identification Requirement
  • Two valid forms of id such as drivers license, birth certificate, U. S. passport, Armed Forces ID card, or Resident Alien ID card. Applicants will also be asked to fill out a brief form. They will ask you your mother’s maiden name and place of birth.
  • If divorced within six months, you will need to show a copy of your divorce decree.
  • There is no waiting period.
  • Fees: Approximately $26.00+. Some counties will only accept cash.

Other Tests: As of July 1, 2003, blood tests are no longer required.

I am having a wedding in north Georgia, can you help me in referring vendors?

Yes! One of the advantages in hiring us is gaining access to some of the best wedding professionals the north Georgia mountains has to offer. For over 10 years we have been planning and coordinating weddings in the area and with that have built solid and trusted relationships with photographers, caterers, hair & makeup professionals, officiants, venue owners/proprietors and the like.


How long have you been planning & coordinating weddings in the north Georgia area?

Can you suggest lodging accommodations for our wedding party/guests?

If you intend to have your wedding within close proximity of Blairsville, Hiawassee, Blue Ridge or Ellijay, we can make much more informed suggestions as to where your guests can stay – cabin rentals, resorts, hotels, etc. Should you be planning on having a wedding in a cabin rental we’d suggest you contact that particular management company to inquire if discounted rates might available on other rentals under their management should members of your wedding party need lodging.

Outside of the aforementioned towns, we’d be glad to help research places to stay.


Our weekend wedding guests need suggestions on things to do. Can you help us with that?

One of the aspects that makes having a weekend destination wedding in the Georgia mountains is the variety of things to see and do while here. We’d be more than happy to provide you and your group with some suggestions including popular tourist attractions. Here are a few activities we think your guests might like:
